Episode III's Plot

So, what's the story of Episode III? Well, most details are top-secret, but, thanks to the fact that this one has to tie everything up and bring us into A New Hope, there are much more details available, as opposed to The Phantom Menace. Anything in red is a assumption of mine. Everything else is based on rumors, facts, or other sources.

The events in Episode III will take place about two years after Episode II and 18-20 years before A New Hope. Palpatine has been Emporor of the galaxy for the past few years now and his New Order continues to rise to power as the Senate begins to slowly dissolve. A few planets have become apposed to the New Order and form an alliance -- a rebel alliance -- to restore the Old Republic.

With the newest Sith apprentice dead, Palpatine seeks a new one. After much trickery and such from Palpatine, including having Boba Fett disintegrate Shmi Skywalker, Anakin Skywalker finally turns to the dark-side of the Force and declares himself Darth Vader. Obi-Wan and Bail Organa receive news of this and quickly takes a pregnant Amidala into hiding. To where? Dagohbah.

While Obi-Wan, Organa, and Amidala are on their escape voyage, Darth Vader helps the Emperor “hunt down and destroy the Jedi.” The Jedi Council went into hiding on Alderaan in Episode II sensing a “dark presence” on Coruscant. Vader, however, knows where they are and personally goes to where they are to kill them. A tremendous battle rages on and, in the end, Vader is the last man standing.

Yoda however was not amongst the dead Jedi Council. He had gone into hiding somewhere else, knowing that the Sith would hunt them down. Yoda, using his tremendous Force abilities, made Dagohbah, his new home, a practical fortress. Obi-Wan, Organa, and Amidala arive. Amidala gives birth there to two beatiful twins, whom she names Luke and Leia. Yoda realizes that the Force is with them and that they are the galaxy’s last hope and advises our three heroes into putting them into hiding. They disagree at first, but Yoda reminds Obi-Wan of his mistake with Anakin and that he should heed his word this time or all shall be lost. Reluctantly, they decide to. Leia and Amidala are decided to go with Bail to Alderaan. Luke is given to Obi-Wan who shall give him to his brother Owen Lars to raise.

On the way to Tatooine, Obi-Wan was forced to land by a pursuing Darth Vader. Darth Vader and Obi-Wan duke it out in a battle to the death on the edge of a molten pit. It is during this battle in which Vader finds out about his son. Anakin cuts of Vader's arm and then knocks him into the pit. Vader somehow survives, though he is in terrible condition. At that point the Emperor's ship landed and Obi-Wan ran into the burning forest to his ship where he flew away to Tatooine, but not before grabbing Anakin's lightsaber which was lying on the ground. Meanwhile, the Emperor finds Vader and takes him into his ship and they fly away back to Coruscant. Luke is finally given to Owen and Beru Lars to raise. Obi-Wan makes a life on Tatooine to watch over the boy and, to someday, make him a Jedi.

Back on Coruscant, Vader is given a special suit by the Emperor. Kneeling down before the Emperor, Vader speeks through his new mask for the first time ever: "What is thy bidding, my master?"
